How To Add A Lining To A Skirt
Hi guys! Today I want to share a very practical sewing tutorial with you. Subsequently I made the fringe clothes pattern by chalk and notch I noticed that the fabric I used was actually see through and I had to add together lining to the dress. I didn't desire to sew a whole lining for the dress then I simply did the skirt and it was perfect.
In this video I show you how I added a brim lining to the fringe clothes pattern, just yous can apply this method to whatever dress pattern or any dress at all. So make sure you spotter this video and please subscribe to my YouTube channel to check out all my videos and tutorials.
Video tutorial
Step i: cut the fabric
I used a lightweight cotton wool cloth which was kind of sheer past itself but it was a perfect lining to this dress. I took the fabric and fold information technology in half then information technology volition fit my design (you don't want to waste matter that fabric, am I right?!) so then I placed the pattern skirt piece on the folded fabric and secure with pins. I cutting all around leaving the bottom, considering I actually desire to make the lining shorter that the dress. After yous cut around pull the pattern upwards most ane-ii inches then it will make your skirt shorter and the cut the bottom at that line. And then I used that piece as pattern to cut another identical piece (every bit requested in the bodily pattern).
Step 2: serge / overlock
Don't freak out if yous don't have a serger or an overlock (same affair by the way) you tin can too practice a zigzag sew with your sewing auto or but sew together a regular sew together with your sewing motorcar.
Lay both pieces of textile on summit of each other and serge them together on each side, right and left. Then serge the height and lesser circles- don't attached both pieces together! It is just to sew together the hem.
Step 3: pins!
Place the brim with the clothes wrong side facing each other and pivot the middle of the wearing apparel where the waistline is. I like to first pin in iv places, on each side (right and left) where the side stitch is, and in the centre of the front and back. That way I can even out the fabric easily. In this pattern there are ruffles to the skirt and then I tried to leave the same amount of fabric in each gap.
Step 4: sew
Now the only affair left to do is to sew together the waistline where the pins are. Don't forget to backstitch at the begging and end, and pull your pins as y'all sew- don't stitch over them!
Hope that tutorial volition help you!
